Trail - A Journey by the Living. For Life.
What was once a dream, now realized
In July 2011 we walked 670 km, 27 days, 135 hours, 900,000 steps from Dondra – the Southernmost point of Sri Lanka to Point Pedro the Northernmost point, across a nation poised for change. The single goal in mind was to raise US$ 2 mn to build a cancer hospital in the country's North to benefit patients in the Northern, Central and Eastern Provinces, providing them with an alternate treatment facility and greater accessibility.
In January 2014, the success of Trail has made that dream a reality, as the fully equipped, state-of-the art Tellippalai Trail Cancer Hospital opens its doors to the public. The hospital will include, male, female and pediatric wards with a total of 120 beds along with a chemotherapy treatment unit, among others. The project cost a total of Rs 300Mn.
The Tellippalai Trail Cancer Hospital was declared opened on the 19th of January by His Excellency President Mahinda Rajapaksa, amidst a distinguished gathering, marking the beginning of a new era in cancer treatment in the North.
The project was organized by Trail in collaboration with the Colours of Courage Trust, a non-profit organization dedicated to uplifting cancer treatment facilities within the country.
